SPECIFIC POSITION SUMMARY:
To plan, organize, develop & implement Physical Therapy services in accordance with current federal, state & local standards governing the program, & as may be coordinated by the Facility Manager to ensure that the highest level of care is maintained at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: 1. Evaluates, plans, develops, organizes & implements patient care programs through the use of physical therapy procedures.
2. Provides direction & assistance to instruct, supervise & coordinate individual assignments of Physical Therapy Assistants & Physical Medicine Techs.
3. Serves as a team member to enhance customer/supplier relationship in the facility.
4. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, fellow workers, and managers. This includes consults with physicians & other members of the healthcare team regarding delivery of services. Has the ability to provide proper instructions to patient & family.
5. Maintains consistency with the facility’s policies on appropriate behavior, dress, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism & reliability.
6. Assumes responsibility as the situation warrants & responds in whatever capacity the condition or schedule requires.
7. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific patient care including: assessment & interpretation of age specific data, ability to properly communicate with patients, knowledge of growth & development & skills & knowledge to perform treatment.
8. Performs professional duties related to patient care in order to restore the patient to his/her maximum level of independence. Performance shall be according to accepted standards of ethical conduct for the physical therapist.
9. Clinical competencies in occupational therapy skills & techniques are demonstrated in a manner that promotes quality patient care.
10. Ensures all physical therapy documentation conforms to documentation/billing policies & procedures that meets requirements for third part payor documentation & reimbursement.
11. Participates in maintaining/ improving the effectiveness of the services provided by the facility. This includes attendance in staff meetings, team conferences, etc. & performance of utilization reviews.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Education & Training
Bachelors or Masters degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited Physical Therapy School.
2. Experience
Prior experience in outpatient care setting preferred.
3. Licensure, Registration, Certification
Current & valid license or a temporary license with an application for permanent license to practice physical therapy in the state of Texas.
4. Other

a. Ability to establish priorities & plan ahead to help assure efficient operation of the facility.

c. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally & written with all persons & discipline.

d. Must be of good moral character & have a sincere desire to work with patients, staff, visitors & family members.
PHYSICAL & SENSORY DEMANDS OF THE JOB (with or without the aid of mechanical devices):
Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, standing, walking, balancing, frequent lifting (21- 50 pounds), reaching, handling, carrying, pushing/pulling, grasping, fine hand coordination, ability to communicate in English, ability to evaluate & interpret information & make independent decisions.
