Job Title:
Caregiver – Residential Assisted Living
Position Summary:
The Caregiver provides personal care, companionship, and assistance with daily living activities to residents in a residential assisted living home. This role supports residents’ dignity, independence, safety, and well-being while following individualized care plans and maintaining compliance with state regulations.
Hours - 12 hour shifts, 7AM or 7PM, Option to live onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care Assistance – Help residents with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and other hygiene needs.
- Mobility Support – Assist residents with walking, transfers, repositioning, and use of mobility aids (e.g., walkers, wheelchairs, gait belts).
- Meal Assistance – Prepare and/or serve meals according to dietary needs, assist with feeding if necessary, and encourage adequate nutrition and hydration.
- Medication Reminders – Provide medication assistance per care plan and regulatory guidelines (no administration beyond allowed scope unless licensed).
- Companionship & Engagement – Provide social interaction, conversation, and participate in recreational or therapeutic activities.
- Household Tasks – Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and maintain cleanliness of resident living spaces.
- Observation & Reporting – Monitor residents’ physical, emotional, and cognitive changes; promptly report concerns to the nurse or manager.
- Safety & Compliance – Follow infection control procedures, emergency protocols, and all facility policies to ensure a safe environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- CPR or BLS current certification required
- Preferred EMTB, Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant
- Previous caregiving or healthcare experience preferred; training will be provided.
- Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written care plans and instructions.
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and meet state licensing requirements.
- Must have a valid government-issued photo ID.
- Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the United States (such as a passport, birth certificate, or other acceptable I-9 documentation).

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, converse, and listen; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 50 pounds on a regular basis, push/pull over 25 pounds regularly, and assist in lifting or transferring residents who may weigh significantly more, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- The employee must be able to stand and/or walk for at least five hours per day and respond quickly to residents’ needs or emergencies.
Work Environment:
- Residential home setting with a small group of residents.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Requires flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
