Job Summary

The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing cars and other vehicles to ensure they are safe, reliable, and operating properly.The ideal candidate is experienced with automotive repair, comfortable using diagnostic tools and equipment, and takes pride in performing quality work in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and safety issues.
  • Diagnose vehicle problems using diagnostic equipment, testing, and technical knowledge.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, brake service, tire rotations, fluid checks, and filter replacement.
  • Repair or replace worn or defective components, including brakes, belts, hoses, suspension components, and other vehicle parts.
  • Perform repairs on engine, transmission, steering, suspension, electrical, and HVAC systems as needed.
  • Conduct test drives to diagnose issues and verify completed repairs.
  • Perform vehicle inspections and identify additional maintenance or repair needs.
  • Complete repair orders and maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Communicate repair findings and recommendations with the service advisor, supervisor, or customer as applicable.
  • Use automotive tools, lifts, diagnostic equipment, and other shop equipment safely and properly.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and all applicable safety requirements.
  • Stay current with automotive technology, repair procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Automotive Technician, Automotive Mechanic, Auto Technician, or Service Technician preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems, components, and repair procedures.
  • Experience using automotive diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
  • Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and time-management skills.
  • Valid driver's license preferred or required, depending on position.
  • ASE certification is a plus.
  • Automotive trade school or technical training is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move automotive parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to work safely around vehicles, machinery, oils, lubricants, chemicals, and other automotive materials.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
